Prescriptive Analytics on Employee Attrition

Employee attrition is defined as the unplanned loss of an employee due to personal reasons. High attrition rates impact company culture and engagement and incur a significant amount of money as the cost of replacing an individual employee can range from one-half to two times the employee's annual salary. A comprehensive employee retention plan could play a vital role in reducing turnover and its related costs. Our goal was to provide predictive and prescriptive analysis of employee attrition under an optimization lens. We are dedicated to exploring important features contributing to an employee leaving a job. More importantly, we would like to prescribe individually tailored treatments (and a combination of treatments, e.g., salary adjustment, overtime status, training time, stock option, amount of business travel, training) to minimize the probability of employees attrition, with consideration of budget constraints in a company. The impact of our project was far beyond helping companies reduce employee replacement costs. We desired to create a better company environment and support programs that improve employee satisfaction and growth by considering what truly matters to employees.


Global Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution Optimization

The outbreak of Covid-19 disrupted the healthcare system of the global society, and tremendous effort was dedicated to developing vaccines. However, another challenge that the global society faces is the distribution and supply chain management of those approved vaccines. In order to provide a more equitable, multilateral, and collaborative vaccine distribution process, our team proposed to optimize the global vaccines supply chain under the modern optimization lens. The objective of this project was to optimize the global vaccine distribution, with the assumption that countries will collaborate on the distribution efforts to fulfill the greater good, in consideration of the transportation cost, global positive cases, and vaccine equity concerns.

1. Description: Tourists frequently encounter a feeling of FOMO (fear of missing out) when they are precluded from hiring a tour guide due to monetary or linguistic obstacles, resulting in a dearth of pertinent information regarding the destination and the numerous events available to them. In view of this, there is a compelling necessity for a product that can equip travelers with the requisite knowledge and autonomy to comprehend a location's historical and cultural importance while also pursuing the prevailing events of interest in the vicinity. So, we are proposing a travel companion that can provide unforgettable experiences to travelers.

2. Objective: The project aims to build an AI product (travel companion) that can enhance travelers' overall experience visiting renowned tourist destinations by providing comprehensive information about the location and notifying them about the events happening in their vicinity.
